Overview

This guide provides the required steps required to set up Shopify with Allotment Productions’ fulfilment system. You should follow every step in this guide in sequential order to ensure that the setup process is completed correctly.

STEP 1

Add the APP

Manually create an app in your Shopify partner account

Log into your Shopify Partner account and access the “All Apps” page which is available from the menu.

Click on the “Create app” button and then the “Create app manually” button.

Once you have chosen a name you will need to provide your “Client ID” and “Client secret” to Allotment Productions. Do not share this with anyone else as it could pose a security risk to your store.

The next step is to access the “App setup” page which is accessible from the left sided menu.

Locate the “URLs” section. You’ll need to enter two URLs which must include the “https” portion of the URL. The “App URL” field should contain the value:
https://shopify-app.allotment.pro/setup

The “Allowed redirection URL(s)” field should contain the value:
https://shopify-app.allotment.pro/authenticate

These URLs are used by Allotment Production’s app to allow authorization to the Shopify store and is required to install the app on the Shopify store.

STEP 2

Install the APP

Install the app in your Partner’s account

When you are ready to install the app please notify Allotment Productions. They will need to set up the Shopify Shop on their system, otherwise, you will see a 403 error when installing the app.

Click on the “Install” button. In some cases you may encounter a permissions issue. If this happens please ensure that you are logged into both your Shopify Partner’s account and Shopify Store’s admin panel.

Once the installation has completed you will be redirected to an authorization success page which states “Authentication Complete”.

When you see this authorization completed page you will need to notify Allotment Productions. This will then allow them to run a setup process from their app to your Shopify store.

When Allotment Productions have completed their setup process you will need to edit some of your Shopify store’s settings to use Allotment Production’s fulfilment service.

STEP 3

Setup Products

Product settings to enable fulfilment with Allotment Productions

There are two settings that need to be amended for products to ensure compatibility with Allotment Productions’ fulfilment service: assigning the fulfilment service and adding HS Codes.

Associate products with Allotment Production’s fulfilment service.

You will need to access the products page from your Shopify store’s admin panel.

You will then need to do the following steps for each product that you want to associate with Allotment Productions’ fulfilment service.

Locate the “Inventory” section of the product. For the “Inventory will be stocked at” dropdown field you will need to select “AP Fulfilment”.

For variable type products such as apparel you will need to do this step for all variations. For example, if a product has two sizes: medium and small, you will need to do this step for each individual variation.

Adding HS Codes to products

For each product you will need to locate the “Shipping” and “Customs Information” section. Enter the “Country/region of country” and “HS (Harmonized System) Code”. If this is not added then Allotment Productions’ fulfilment service will not be able to fulfil the order. This is because the shipping carriers they use require HS Codes for international orders.

If the product is variable then this setting will need to be completed for each relevant variation of the product.

Ensure Product Weights are accurate

It’s vital for every product and variation that their weight has been entered correctly to ensure accurate shipping rates.

If you product is one of the following types:
Poster / Print / Mug / Cap / Glass / Vinyl Disc
You will need to add an additional 200g on-top of the product weight to accommodate for packaging weights. Other product types packaging weights are so minimal they do need need to be added.

STEP 4

Set the Fulfilment Location

Associate the app to use the store’s location

In the Shopify store’s admin panel you will need to first access the “Settings” section. Once the modal has appeared you will need to access the “Locations” section. Here you will need to update the “Change default location” field to use “APP UK Location”.

STEP 5

Set Shipping Methods

Update the Shipping and delivery settings

The next setting to update is for allowing the relevant store’s products to use Allotment Production’s custom shipping rates. From the “Settings” section you will need to locate the “Shipping and delivery” section.

You will see a “General Shipping Rates” section. Click on the “Manage” link. You will then need to make the following changes to each shipping zone set up on the Shopify store.

For each shipping zone click on the “Add rate” button. Once the modal displays click on “Use carrier or app to calculate rates”. A dropdown will appear, select the “AP Shipping (Rates provided by app)” and click on the “Done” button.

STEP 6

Required Checkout Fields

Require customer phone numbers in the checkout

This next setting will require customers to enter their phone number during the checkout process. This is required for international orders fulfilled by Allotment Productions as it is required information needed by their shipping carriers.

In the admin panel’s “Settings” section locate the “Checkout and accounts” section. In the “Customer contact method” you will need to assign the value “Phone number and email”.

STEP 7

IOSS Tax & Duties

Only applicable if you're registered with the IOSS

If you have an IOSS number and you’re you’re paying taxes on behalf of your customers to the IOSS, please provide Allotment Productions with your IOSS number, and also ensure you have added your IOSS number within your Shopify Duties & Tax settings under the EU territory admin section.
